How to Download Instagram Reels on Android (Save to Gallery)
Android is the easier of the two platforms: Chrome saves the MP4 directly, and the Gallery usually picks it up on its own.
The short version
- In Instagram, tap share → Copy link on the reel.
- Open Chrome and go to the downloader.
- Paste the link, tap Download, then Save.
- The MP4 lands in Downloads and normally appears in Gallery within a few seconds.
If the video doesn't show in Gallery
Android's media scanner sometimes ignores the Downloads folder. Two fixes:
- Open the Files app → Downloads, long-press the video and Move it to Movies or DCIM. The scanner always indexes those.
- Or just reboot. The scanner runs on boot and will find it.
Storage permission: a web page cannot write anywhere it likes on Android. The file goes to your browser's download folder, which is why no permission prompt appears, and why no app install is needed.

Why not use a downloader app?
An APK needs storage and sometimes clipboard-monitoring permissions, ships ads, and has to be kept updated. A web page needs none of that: nothing is installed and nothing runs in the background.
