How to Make a List of Instagram Post Links in Excel or Google Sheets

What the list needs to look like

Very little. One link per cell, in any column. Other columns can stay: captions, dates, notes. The bulk downloader scans the whole file and keeps only post, reel and IGTV links.

Method 1: copy links by hand

Fine for up to a few dozen posts.

1. In the Instagram app, open the post, tap the share icon, then Copy link.
2. Paste it into the next empty cell of your sheet.
3. Repeat. In a desktop browser the address bar of an open post already holds the link, so you can copy it straight from there.

Method 2: use an export or analytics tool

Social media analytics and export tools often produce a spreadsheet with a post_url column alongside likes, comments and captions. That file can go straight into the bulk downloader as it is. The extra columns, including image_url and video_url media links, are ignored.

Method 3: tidy an existing list

If links arrived in a message or a document, paste them all into one column. Blank rows, duplicates and stray text do no harm: duplicates are downloaded once and anything that is not a post link is skipped.

Saving the file

• Excel: the default .xlsx is right. Avoid the old .xls format.
• Google Sheets: File, Download, then .xlsx or .csv.
• Numbers on Mac: File, Export To, then Excel or CSV.

How many per file?

Up to 50 links per file. For a longer list, split it across several files, for example rows 1 to 50 and 51 to 100, and upload them one at a time.
